 Darren McFadden and the New York Jets have something in common. They are both infatuated with each other. And if the Jets plan on landing the two-time Doak Walker award winner out of Arkansas, they might have to trade up to get him. The Jets currently own the number-six pick in Saturday’s (April 26) NFL Draft. There is some doubt if McFadden would be around by the sixth pick. It is speculated that Oakland Raiders owner Al Davis, whom had previously shown interest, would take him in that spot. Raiders coach Lane Kiffin would prefer to address the teams needs in the trenches, however; anyone who knows the Raiders eccentric owner are aware Davis calls the shots and will draft whom he wants.
The New York Daily news in a story posted by writer Rich Cimini reported on Tuesday (April 22) that McFadden has been in New York for the second time in the last week. "I feel like if I'm there at No. 6, they're going to take me," McFadden told the Daily News at a promotional appearance in lower Manhattan. With the sixth selection in the draft, and there is a growing belief around the league that McFadden is one of their targets. Concerned the Raiders (No. 4) might select the dynamic running back, the Jets may try to trade up (the Rams are at No. 2) for McFadden, according to a league source. Oddsmakers at online sports wagering giant Bodoglife.com , have installed 10/17 odds that McFadden will be the fourth pick going to Oakland. Other players and their odds whom the Raiders have shown interest in are defensive lineman Vernon Gholston (13/4), Glen Dorsey (13/2) and Chris Long (9/2). McFadden is a 7/5 odds favorite to go in the sixth pick to the Jets providing he is still on the board at that time. According to Bodoglife.com, the Jets are also interested in Vernon Gholston (7/5), Boston College quarterback Matt Ryan (2/1) and USC DT Sedrick Ellis (7/1).
